Management also raised full-year revenue growth guidance to slightly above 40% and lifted 2026 capex to US$60-64 billion.
The market did not reward the beat. TSMC's U.S.-listed shares fell 2.3% to US$409.74, the SOX dropped 4.3%, and the broader Nasdaq finished lower as well. That is the core story: the market is no longer treating better fundamentals as an automatic reason to pay a higher multiple.
The selloff is not a rebuttal of the AI buildout. It is a reassessment of how much of the good news is already priced, how long the capex wave can sustain itself, and how much margin pressure investors should accept before they start marking down the whole stack.
Fault line #1
The 2nm ramp is a real margin headwind, and the market is finally pricing it.
The first fault line is margins. TSMC guided Q3 gross margin to 65-67%, which implies a sequential step down from the record 67.7% in Q2. Management also said the N2 ramp will dilute gross margin by roughly 3-4 percentage points in the near term.
