The company markets and distributes greenhouse-grown tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers across North America through the Village Farms brand, selling to retail supermarkets and fresh food distribution partners. Its greenhouse model emphasizes year-round, farm-to-market supply reliability rather than relying solely on seasonal outdoor production.
In addition to produce, Village Farms has built a cannabis business segment that produces cannabis products for licensed suppliers and provincial governments in Canada and for international/global channels. In the United States, it focuses on developing and selling health and wellness items derived from cannabinoids, including ingestibles, edibles, and topical applications. This dual-track approach links cultivation and formulation know-how, aiming to reduce dependence on any single end market.
Village Farms also operates an energy facility that generates and sells electricity and supplies thermal heat to support industrial needs. This energy-and-heat integration is strategically relevant for greenhouse operations, where maintaining temperature, humidity, and overall growing conditions can be energy intensive. As a result, the company’s cost structure is typically influenced by utilities/energy, greenhouse inputs, labor, logistics, and compliance costs tied to cannabis regulation, in addition to agriculture-specific costs such as seed/plant production and crop maintenance.
From a business perspective, Village Farms’ product portfolio spans both agricultural commodities (produce) and higher-margin, regulated consumer goods (cannabinoid-based products). The company’s financial and operational profile reflects the capital requirements common to large greenhouse operations—regular maintenance, expansion, and ongoing cultivation infrastructure. For investors and stakeholders, key considerations often include greenhouse utilization, crop yields, regulatory and policy developments in cannabis markets, brand and distribution execution, and the ability to manage working capital tied to inventory and growing cycles.
Leadership centers on Michael A. DeGiglio, who has served as CEO since the company’s inception, and the company is headquartered in Delta, Canada (with the dataset also reflecting Lake Mary, Florida for listed operations). Overall, Village Farms positions itself as a “farm-to-shelf” operator: growing, processing where applicable, and distributing produce and cannabinoid-derived products under one corporate platform, while leveraging integrated energy support to sustain controlled environment farming.

Mike DeGiglio: Thank you, [ Liz ]. And good morning, everyone. And thank you for joining us for our second quarter results. With me today are Steve Ruffini, our Chief Financial Officer, and Ann Gillin Lefever, our Chief Operating Officer, and [ Sam Gibbons ], our Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations. I will begin with my customary review of our highlights from the quarter, then Steve will review the segments and financials in more detail before I make some last closing comments. Our second quarter results continue to demonstrate the strength of our expanding global cannabis platform, driven by record cannabis revenues as we continue growing in target markets and product categories in the countries we currently operate in. We delivered our fifth consecutive quarter of positive net income and earnings per share since we privatized our legacy produce business last year. And as we noted in this morning's press release, we're having a record year of production in our Delta, British Columbia facilities, which has contributed to stronger margin performance. Consolidated net sales growth was strong, and we achieved record cannabis harvest yields from our Delta …
