The company operates under the “Brightstar Lottery” brand and, while it traces its corporate origins to 1976, it has undergone naming/organizational changes—being formerly known as International Game Technology PLC and shifting to the Brightstar Lottery name in July 2025.
From a business-model perspective, Brightstar’s offerings span both B2B lottery infrastructure and commercial services that help customers run games and manage retail operations. Key product lines include: (1) suites of point-of-sale machines used to reconcile lottery funds between retailers and the lottery authority; (2) lottery transaction processing systems that handle draw and game transactions; (3) instant ticket game production and related services; and (4) iLottery, a digital platform providing access to electronic instant games and draw games. In addition, the company supplies printing services and end-to-end operational support such as marketing/retail optimization, graphic design, programming, packaging, shipping, and delivery.
Operationally, Brightstar also supports adjacent transaction-processing needs (for example, prepaid cellular recharges, bill payments, e-vouchers, electronic tax payments, prepaid card recharges, stamp duty, and money transfer services). This positions the company not only as a lottery gaming infrastructure provider but also as an enablement partner for retail transaction workflows where lottery and payments can intersect.
In terms of scale, the company reports roughly 5,700–6,000 employees (about 5,746 employees in the provided data), supporting global customer service, hardware/software delivery, and manufacturing/fulfillment activities related to ticket production and printing. Financially, provided ttm metrics indicate revenue profitability (net profit margin around 0.10) and margins such as gross profit margin around 0.464, with enterprise value and leverage-related ratios also reflecting a capital-structure profile typical of large infrastructure/software-and-operations providers. The company’s cost structure is likely influenced by hardware deployment, software/system operations, production and fulfillment for instant tickets, and customer support/maintenance; accordingly, its margins and cash-flow measures can vary with investment cycles and game/contract activity.
Key leadership includes CEO Vincent L. Sadusky, who has served as CEO since January 2022. Overall, Brightstar’s “wishes” and strategic direction—based on its public positioning—focus on continuing to innovate in secure lottery technology and delivering dependable, engaging solutions for both players and lottery operators worldwide.

Vincent Sadusky: Thank you, all, for joining us. Our better-than-expected Q2 profits were driven by an increase in global same-store sales and strong cost discipline even as we continue to invest in high return initiatives. We generated significant cash in the first half of the year, which not only helped to fund the final Italy Lotto license payment in Q2, but also the $140 million of capital returned to shareholders in the year-to-date period, all while continuing to maintain a solid balance sheet. We executed well against our strategic priorities in the first half of the year and expect this good progress to deliver stronger revenue and profit growth in the second half of the year. Global same-store sales increased 1.5% in the second quarter, a slight acceleration from Q1's performance on stronger U.S. sales. The improvement in U.S. sales primarily came from stronger multistate jackpot performance and, to a lesser extent, better instant and draw game sales. Some of the strongest growth in instant and draw games came from New Jersey and Indiana markets where we have more direct involvement with day-to-day lottery operations. We've expanded retail points of sale and strategically deployed vending machines and digital signage, all proven initiatives that are delivering encouraging results. We intend to scale …
